Here at Singing Grove Flutes through extra effort I strive to ensure that my flutes will be ones that you will desire to own and play for a lifetime. These are some of the steps I take to meet that goal: Whether selecting bamboo from down the road here in NC, or from some that comes from across the world, each piece is chosen for tonal quality, comfort, durability and appeal. |

The bamboo is fire cured to vent out excessive moisture. This brings it into balance with the indoor air quality thereby helping to prevent cracks.(picture to right, click to enlarge) |

The
holes are created in the traditional manner of burning in which also
helps to prevent cracks. They are then sanded smooth for comfort. |

Each
note is electronically tuned for optimal tonal quality. |

The
exterior is heated to soften the bamboos natural oil and wax. It is then
hand rubbed to a satin sheen to reveal the bamboos unique beauty. No modern
sealants are used only walnut oil on the ends and inside for protection.

Binding
the flute acquires the pleasure of playing this flute for a lifetime.
It virtually eliminates the possibility of cracking rendering a flute
unplayable.
The bird is mahogony held on with leather lacing and adorned with wooden beads. |
